How good is your Internal Clock?
Time perception is your brain's subjective experience of the passage of time. Unlike sight or hearing, we don't have a specific organ to detect time. Instead, our brain constructs it using attention, memory, and dopamine levels.
Time Blindness & ADHD
Many people use this test to check for "Time Blindness"—the inability to sense the passing of time accurately. This is a common trait in individuals with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). If you consistently score in the "Broken Watch" category (off by more than 0.5s), you might struggle with time estimation in daily life.
How to Play
- Start: Click the big button to start the invisible timer.
- Count: Count 5 seconds in your head (do not count out loud!).
- Stop: Click the button again when you think exactly 5 seconds have passed.
- Analyze: We will show you the exact milliseconds difference.
Factors affecting Time Perception
- Focus: Time seems to slow down when you are hyper-focused.
- Age: As we get older, our internal processing speed slows down, making time feel like it is passing faster.
- Body Temperature: Higher body temperature can actually speed up your internal clock!
